The GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) registration start date has been extended and is now expected to open in the first week of September 2026. Regular registration is scheduled to close on 27th September 2026, with extended registration available until 5th October 2026.

1. GATE Metallurgical Engineering (MT): Overview & History
The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a national-level examination jointly conducted by the IITs and IISc. The Metallurgical Engineering (MT) paper evaluates a candidate's understanding of core metallurgy and engineering fundamentals. 4. Eligibility for GATE-MT
Candidates currently in the 3rd year or higher of an undergraduate degree or those who have completed a BE/B.Tech in metallurgical and materials science or similar domain are eligible. There is no age limit for the GATE examination.
